Hi Friends,
Another week of a Hallmark Christmas Weekly (2015), we are coming close to the end of our Christmas journey with Hallmark this year. Since 2008, Hallmark Christmas movies have become a beloved Christmas tradition for me. A good heart-warming Christmas movie uplifts my Christmas spirit, even if nothing else is going my way. There are lots of Hallmark movies I have come to love and more are added each year. I’m thankful for Hallmark Channel all through the year, but especially at Christmas. Hope you are enjoying this series with me. I hope to do it again next year, but hopefully figure out how to gain a bigger audience. I’m sure there are lots of “Hallmarkies” out there who’d love this series. Happy Holidays and happy “Countdown to Christmas.”
On the Twelfth Day of Christmas– Hallmark Channel- Saturday, December 12th, 8 PM/7c

Just in Time For Christmas
Premiered- Hallmark Channel, Saturday, December 5th, 2015
Starring: Eloise Mumford, Christopher Lloyd, William Shatner
This was a really nice Christmas movie. It had a slight “It’s a Wonderful Life” twist to it. Only in “It’s a Wonderful Life,” George Bailey got a glimpse of what life would be like for his friends and family if he was never born. In the movie, “Just in Time For Christmas,” Lindsay Rogers got to see what her life would be like three years down the line, if she made a decision to accept an amazing job opportunity over the proposal of marriage from her love.
The movie starts out really happy, relationships are good, everyone is happy. That changes when Lindsay receives both proposals in one night. When she hesitates to say yes, her hurt boyfriend gives her the ring and walks away. This prompts Lindsay to take a drive, and she ends up contemplating her decision on a park bench.
A carriage ride from a stranger and his horse name Mistletoe, changes everything when Lindsay is suddenly abandoned in the park by said stranger. She then finds herself three years in the future, after she has accepted the job offer. A little magic, mystery and confusion help put things into perspective for Lindsay, and she figures out the right decision for her.
Sometimes, I wish for that kind of magical intervention when making big decisions for my life. A glimpse into the future to show what will happen if I take this path or that. Unfortunately, life really doesn’t work that way, but watching a good movie to help you escape reality and find yourself in a world where anything could happen is a fun thing to do. Especially, if at the ending of it all, it all turns out perfectly happy.
Did you like this year’s Hallmark Hall of Fame Christmas movie? I did. The story line, the romantic chemistry between leads, the actors performances, the characters were all good.
Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge-Part 1
Premiered- Hallmark Channel, Saturday, December 6th, 2015
Starring: Faith Ford, Ted McGinley
Could you imagine a bookstore, that’s not just a bookstore, but a place to connect with strangers who would soon become your family. A bookstore where the owners are very caring, loving people, who not only guide you to the books you may not even know you where looking for, but they get to know you, they listen to you and if they can, they help you find your way. A place like that would be a home away from home for me. A place to not only escape into a good book, but experience other things as well like food, art, music, maybe even poetry. Karen Kingsbury’s The Bridge (bookstore) is a place I’ve been searching for. Alas it only existed first in the author’s mind, then in a book, now in two Hallmark Christmas movies where the book’s characters come to life.
This is a beautiful story unfolding of love, faith, friendship and finding your way to who you are despite who others may want you to be. A journey not completed or near completion in this first film. I’m very much looking forward to 2016, to see where this journey continues.
Unfortunately, I did not get to read the book first but I really wish I had, so these characters would have come alive to me in a deeper way. Did you read the book first? Did you like this movie?
Magic Stocking
Premiered- Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, Sunday, December 6th, 2015
Starring: Bridget Regan, Victor Webster
Do you believe in Christmas magic? I do, but maybe not the kind featured in this Hallmark movie. Imagine a magic stocking that gives you what you need, when you need it and completely changes your life’s direction. I love the concept. What an imaginative thought from the person who came up with this movie idea. Who is the conveyor of this magic? A kindly old lady at a Church’s Christmas sale. Is she Mrs. Claus, an angel, or just someone with magical powers, the movie never explains. The story line was entertaining and sometimes very funny, with the help of two really fun older folks in the film. The female lead’s (Bridget Regan) very fun-loving mother and her boss, the really persistent (with matters of the heart) mayor.
It was really a joy to watch and my husband liked it too. So I know it definitely was not a boring movie. What did you think of it?
